CPRLab revives first-aid awareness in Deanside
January 13, 2025

On 19 October, a masterplanned neighbourhood in Deanside is bringing free CPR skills training to the community as a first step in their ambitious goal of creating an 80% CPR-prepared community.
St John Ambulance Victoria, who were the recipients of Carolina by AVID Property Group’s 2024 Sponsorship and Grants Program, will bring their signature 10-minute CPRLab workshops to the masterplanned community with many Carolina residents and the broader community all expected to attend.
AVID Victoria General Manager Bruce Harper said the life-saving skills workshop provided through CPR Lab is only the first step in Carolina’s plan for raising awareness in the community of the critical medical skill.
“Victorians already know that heart-related issues are the leading cause of death in our state. With CPR knowledge, chances of survival increase by 70%. At Carolina, we see educating our community and our neighbours in important first-aid skills as one of our top goals for 2024 and beyond.”
“We’re shooting for the moon and aiming to reach at least 80% of Carolina residents through this initiative with our amazing partners at St John Ambulance Victoria.
“We’re planning on collaborating with St John on a series of educational videos through AVID Engage nationally to ensure that Carolina and our AVID neighbourhoods are well prepared in the event of an emergency,” Mr Harper said.
St John Ambulance Victoria Chief Executive Officer Gordon Botwright said events like CPR Lab at Carolina are important to the organisation’s mission and commitment to ensuring every Victorian has the lifesaving skills needed in emergencies.
“We want to impact Victoria for good. Our vision is of a future where Victorian communities thrive with the help of our work and service.”
“Encouraging more people to learn CPR and how to use a defibrillator is an important first step in the chain of survival for someone in cardiac arrest.”
